Overview

The University of Bosaso is excited to announce its upcoming essay writing competition, designed to celebrate creativity in writing among our students and alumni. This competition invites participants to showcase their writing skills in Somali, English, and Arabic
languages. We believe this platform will not only foster linguistic prowess but
also encourage critical thinking and expression.

Categories:

The Star: Competitors will
write in all three languages.

The Pearl: Participants will
contest using two languages.

The Silver: Contestants will
use one language for their submissions.

Benefits:

Winners in each category will receive recognition through certificates. Additionally, the top three winners in each
category will be awarded certificates of achievement.

Here are the specific rewards for each category:

The Star: The winner will
receive $100 and a one-semester internship placement as a secretary. If a graduate, they will also be selected as an invigilator for all UOB examinations.

The Pearl: The winner will
receive $75 and a one-semester internship in the media and marketing department.

The Silver: Winners will
receive certificates of participation.

Duration and Sessions:

The competition will span five days, from May 5th to May 9th, 2024, with specific sessions outlined as follows:

May 5th:

9:00-11:00 AM (All categories)

4:00-6:00 PM (The Star and The Pearl)

6:00-8:00 PM (The Star)

Results:

The results will be released at the end of
every stage at 8:00 PM.

Award Ceremony:

May 12th, 2024, at 6:00 PM

Competition Design:

Contestants will be provided with topics
reflecting contemporary issues. They will complete their essays within a strict
two-hour timeframe in a computer lab, adhering to standard examination rules.
No internet access or devices will be permitted during the competition. Each
language category will have designated sessions across the three stages. The
top performers from each stage will progress to the next, culminating in the
announcement of winners on May 10th, 2024.

Target Group

This easy writing competition targets only
40 contestants drawn from various faculties at the University of Bosaso main
campus both regular students and alumni. Female contestants are highly
encouraged to participate. 

Panelists:

A panel of three lecturers, each
proficient in one language, will assess the submissions. Additionally, a
committee will review and record the results. The Media and Marketing
Department will publish updates regularly.

We encourage all eligible participants to
seize this opportunity to showcase their writing prowess and contribute to the
vibrant academic community at the University of Bosaso. We look forward to
