Welcome to Faculty of social Sciences of university of Bosaso, the Faculty was established on 5th September, 2009 . Over the years we have trained thousands of social scientists who are spread across the world.

 

The faculty offers both regular and virtual undergraduate programs in community development, public administration, International Relations, Social work And Social Administration .The Faculty of Social Sciences has been playing a leading role in providing administrative specialist in Somalia regions through vigorous training of both regular and virtual undergraduate students and continuous research in day-day on social issues.

The Faculty of Social Science is one of the oldest and leading faculties at University of Bosaso. The faculty offers a complete range of Diploma and degree programs at the undergraduate level in three distinctive departments: Department of Community Development, Public Administration And international Relations and diplomatic studies

Minimum Entry Requirement

  1. Secondary School Certificate or its equivalence
  2. Minimum entry grade of C with C in English and any other humanity or art course

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT

Bachelor of Public Administration

The contemporary Public Sector is highly complex in that it is facing serious resource constraints.  In addition, there is a high level of awareness of rights among citizens leading to demand for quality public goods and services.

This programme is intended to explore the models of traditional Public Administration and the “New Public Management vis-à-vis Strategic Management”.  This is in order to broaden the knowledge of students in the field as well as equip them with analytical and management skills to help them meet the challenges of the public sector and contribute to its effectiveness, efficiency and economy.

In terms of career prospects, students can work as Executive Officers, Managers, Planners, Human Resource Practitioners, Local Government Officials and other related positions in the Public and Private Sectors, and Non-for Profit Organizations.

DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

A community development degree program draws information from many fields including anthropology, urban studies and political science. Degree are typically offered as Bachelor of Arts. Make a difference with this Community Development course by aiming for an ethical and worthwhile career building strong, sustainable communities in Somalia. 

Our Bachelor of Community Development gives you the skills and knowledge for various roles in local community development. The course units are focused on practical skills to help you become an effective community worker. The graduate will contribute to building the capacity of local communities to make them stronger and be an advocate for change.

The students in this program will also benefit from extensive placements in community development organisations, with opportunities to travel overseas. We also have a number of university partners like MKU and IUIU which enable study abroad, providing you with excellent opportunities to broaden your world view, build your capacity as a community worker and learn to work in diverse communities.

DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL WORK AND SOCIAL ADMINISTRATION

Social Work and Social Administration belongs to the discipline of “Applied Social Sciences”. This Programme is committed to quality, leading-edge education, and research. Graduates will be equipped with the professional knowledge, skills and values as well as the confidence and capability to meet challenges in the rapidly changing societies. On successful completion of all the requirements of the programme, students will be awarded the Bachelor of Social Work and Social Administration (Honours) degree.

Our Bachelor of Social Work and Social Administration  gives you the skills and knowledge for various roles in local social work. The course units are focused on practical skills to help you become an effective community worker. The graduate will contribute to building the capacity of local communities to make them stronger and be an advocate for change.

DEPARTMENT OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND DIPLOMACY

The Bachelor of Arts degree in international Relations programme is structured and designed to ensure that students acquire an appreciation of the importance of international Relations and Diplomacy in the contemporary world it is designed to prepare students for careers in governments and their institutions and in non-governmental organization, private sector international and regional institutions.

Students will be exposed to debates in literature, research issues and development in international Relations and Diplomacy. The programme is tailored to ensure students possess an understanding of the complexity of international Issues. The programme is unique and tailor made to suit emerging international developments. It is thus set to meet discipline and sector requirements. The programme is a response to demands from within and outside Somalia..
