Background
The University of Bosaso Research Department is an integral part of the institution, partially independent in its administrative activities. It enhances departmental growth and sustainability by fostering creativity and innovation. Acting as a catalyst for development, it introduces well-planned strategies aimed at achieving substantial breakthroughs.
In Somalia, where academic and research infrastructures were severely affected by the 1991 state collapse, the role of research departments is particularly significant. The establishment of this department at the University of Bosaso is crucial and timely. It strengthens the institution’s reputation and supports activities like external funding applications, project result commercialization, and research in fields such as health sciences, social sciences, education, business, and technology.
Rationale
The department coordinates research through teams and committees under the guidance of the UOB Research team. It sets policies, guidelines, and processes, ensuring ethical compliance, establishing partnerships, and developing a funding strategy. The department also trains academic staff and students in research methods, supervises theses, produces scholarly publications, and organizes conferences and seminars.
