Introduction

The University of Bosaso is a very fast growing academic institution of Higher learning that is still at its infant stages, formerly known as Bosaso College and has achieved a remarkable growth within the shortest time of its existence. The College has risen to the top level with great support received from Muslim Aid UK, the hosting community and international organizations.

The University was launched in January, 2006 by local intellectuals and Community members inside both the country and diaspora and supports from international organizations.

UOB provides its students with excellent academic, extra-curricular and conducive learning environment that prepares them for positions of leadership and lives of service-oriented endeavors as competent ambassadors.

The University of Bosaso’s mission and vision is committed to the development of human skills throughout with affordable education for all, necessary for sustainable human endeavors. The Institution recognizes the need for significant transfer of skills and knowledge to its students.

The institution works with the local community to improve quality, consistency of newly and unique existing programs, certified by International academic bodies. The curriculum contents of the University’s syllabus , reflects quality education offered in efforts to bridge between the immediate learnings needs and long term educational development.

The strategy of providing educational opportunities for more than 10,000 adult students in Puntland has also attracted other stakeholders who affiliate with the institution as mentors, and collaborators who over the years have transformed thousands of candidates into professionals.

The University’s immediate plans are to provide and expand its academic programs to meet the diverse academic needs of the community. This involves introduction of academic programs in various field of study to meet the community’s growing needs and aspirations.

The University’s long term strategic plan is to expand and improve to meet the international standards for the existing undergraduate programmes, and introduce postgraduate porgrammes.

UOB is through its official slogan “Building a better Community”, university has educated thousands of individuals who are committed, dedicated, skilled and passionate to serve their community all levels of human endeavors.

Objectives
