A Landmark Election: Faculty of Social Sciences Student Council at University of Bosaso

The Faculty of Social Sciences at University of Bosaso recently witnessed a historic and vibrant election process, culminating in the successful selection of its new Student Council. This democratic event, held at the university’s main campus, exemplified the spirit of student engagement and leadership, setting a benchmark for future elections at the institution.

The event drew significant attention and was attended by key university officials, including the Vice Chancellor, Mr. Mohamoud Sheikh, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Mr. Abdirizak Ismail Aduur, the Head of the Academic Office, Mr. Sherma’arke Anger, and several esteemed faculty members. The presence of the entire student body added to the energy and enthusiasm, making the election a unifying occasion for the faculty.

Two strong and passionate student organizations contested the elections:

  1. Kaah Student Association, led by Chairperson Najib Jama Mohamed.
  2. Hilaac Student Association, led by Chairperson Abdullah Mohamud Suleiman.

Both groups presented compelling visions for the future of student representation within the Faculty of Social Sciences. The candidates demonstrated exemplary leadership qualities and a deep commitment to enhancing the student experience, creating an atmosphere of constructive competition that inspired their peers.

The election itself was conducted through a box-voting system, ensuring transparency and fairness in the democratic process. After a closely contested race, the Kaah Student Association, chaired by Najib Jama Mohamed, emerged victorious. With this outcome, Mr. Mohamed has assumed the prestigious role of President of the Faculty of Social Sciences Student Association (FOSSA).
